The new era of sustainable intermodal transport<\/strong> in the Mediterranean Sea has opened. The Smet Group, thanks to the new GG5G class ships of the Grimaldi Group, makes its freight transport services even more environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n

The new intermodal transport of the Smet Group<\/h2>\n

After the welcome given by Smet Group CEO Domenico De Rosa to the new Eco Valencia, which arrived from China to the port of Livorno, Smet’s new sustainable intermodal transport service immediately began.<\/p>\n

In recent years, intermodal transport<\/a> has become a reality also thanks to the commitment of those who, like the Smet Group, have worked to increasingly integrate their road freight transport services with rail, sea and air transport. This is particularly true with strategic partners such as the Grimaldi Group<\/a>, with which Smet has built a solid relationship of collaboration. For this reason, during the preview presentation of the new ro\/ro ships, Smet Group CEO Domenico De Rosa announced the imminent launch of new sustainable intermodal transport services.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the new GG5G class ships of Grimaldi Group, Smet Group’s strategic partner, the company will be able to offer even more sustainable services to its premium customers. Each of the vessels, in fact, is able to transport up to 500 of the company’s trailers, pushing once again the direction of modal shifting traffic in favor of an increasingly sustainable transport policy.<\/p>\n

The GG5Gs are the new Grimaldi Green 5th Generation class rolling freighter ships. A project that allows the Neapolitan shipowner to equip itself with six ships in the ro\/ro category. The new vessels each have a length of 238 metres and a width of 34 metres. The gross tonnage of each vessel will be 64,000 tons. In total, thanks to the 7,800 linear metres of rolling stock, the new units are capable of carrying up to 500 trailers.
