A new important award for the SMET Group, Europe’s leading intermodal logistics operator. The company has been honoured with the MDT Award 2022, which recognises the Group’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation in the transport sector, through a fruitful path of growth that has continued for 75 years.

The award was conferred by Vega Editrice and the magazine Il Mondo dei Trasporti as part of Vega Day 2022, the annual appointment of reference for the transport and logistics sector, which took place in Monza at the Villa Reale park.

The Mdt Award 2022 complements another important recognition: the Zero Gradi Award, dedicated by the magazines Trasportare Oggi in Europa and Vado e Torno to excellence in temperature-controlled transport and cold logistics, presented to CEO Domenico De Rosa last May.

“I am honoured to receive the MDT Award 2022 for innovation and sustainability,” said Domenico De Rosa. “I would like to dedicate this important recognition to all the women and men who work, have worked and will work for our Group and who, with their daily commitment, have made possible this long and fruitful path of growth, which has been going on uninterruptedly for 75 years.”

He added: “I am not just referring to the development of maritime and rail intermodality, which started in the 1990s well ahead of its time, and to the definitive green turn with the entry into the fleet of the first vehicles powered by an alternative fuel to diesel, which took place about 10 years ago. Sustainability for us is not only the protection of the environment in which we live, but is a shared value deeply rooted in the company and a strategic tool that allows us to manage all activities in a socially responsible manner”.
