ASviS Report 2022, De Rosa “We represent development models that get worse, but we waste time greenwashing”

“Sustainability is a broad concept, not only environmental, but also economic and social,” commented the SMET CEO. The 2022 report of ASviS, the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development, committed to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda, was presented in these days.

The report analyses the general picture of Italy’s progress with respect to the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda and at the same time presents proposals, indicating the areas in which action must be taken to ensure environmental, social and economic sustainability.

On the path towards the UN 2030 Agenda, in Italy the report photographs a worsening with respect to some fundamental issues such as poverty, water resources, the earth’s ecosystem and on the front of solid institutions and international cooperation. In short, worsening and closure, and social and political situations that are unchanged and not improved in terms of work and inequality.

For Domenico De Rosa, the report highlighted a paradoxical situation: “We must be very careful about flaunting sustainability in every sauce, running the risk of lapsing into greenwashing, apparent and hypocritical environmentalism, and moreover losing sight of the real goals to be achieved. Those who speak of sustainability must have in mind its real meaning: a total and comprehensive model of development for human life’.
