De Rosa (SMET) new Knight of the Republic: “It’s just a new starting point”

“These honors are not expected or demanded. One simply works so that one can aspire to such important results.” Thus began Domenico De Rosa, the CEO of SMET, who was named this April 10 as a Knight of the Italian Republic. Honored with one of the highest honors for an Italian citizen and directly from the hands of President Sergio Mattarella, Domenico De Rosa wanted to emphasize how this honor is nothing more than “a starting point from which to build the vision that, in SMET, we have proven to have.”

Among the greatest merits attributed to SMET is its great commitment to the search for an increasingly evolved and sustainable model. A mission, which, the company’s CEO recalls, comes from afar. “We have always invested in sustainability,” De Rosa explains, “and this has allowed us to achieve important and properly avant-garde results. This has allowed us to offer the market, even before there was talk of the European green deal, a solution with high sensitivity to environmental sustainability.”

Sustainability is probably the key word associated with the future. And, says De Rosa, “Without young people there is no future. Anyone who works in the day-to-day business without giving an eye to the new generation is not making the right choice,” the SMET CEO points out. “As for me, I am involved in outreach myself, and I engage with new, young minds. The debate is lively and enriches us; there is a need for this intergenerational exchange of views.” De Rosa’s analysis goes on to talk about the objective material conditions of the last two generations, namely Millennials and Generation Z. “Young people need courage. We must not forget that this is the first generation that sees a condition of greater difficulty than that of their parents,” De Rosa recalls. “It is a condition that cannot be changed in the short term, but starting from this condition of uncertainty, a lever can be created to be able to do anything. From uncertainty comes a push for freedom, to be able to create one’s own future.”

Finally, SMET’s CEO turns his gaze back to the past to rediscover what were the crucial and fundamental elements of the company’s development not only from an economic point of view, but also from an ethical and values perspective. “Among the fundamental elements of a success story are roots, ethics and morality. Of these values we have made them a true banner. With this recognition we can say that we got it right. We are a testimony that you can start even from small towns, as in our case from Roccadaspide, and you can go out into the world and bring examples of a healthy family culture, which also dictates the rules in business. Every employee of the group is important and contributes in a decisive way to the success and achievement of business goals, regardless of role.” De Rosa concludes that “it is thanks to this forward-looking vision and these values of familiarity that SMET has projected itself onto the international market, achieving great results and contributing, in our own way, to progress and a sustainable future.”
