SMET’s star shines at VDO Awards: De Rosa picks up award for Innovation and Sustainability

The SMET group is experiencing an extraordinary year from the standpoint of growth and the awards it has received. The latest, in order of time, came as part of the international event Transpotec Logitec 2024. Knight of the Republic and SMET CEO Domenico De Rosa collected the VDO Awards 2024 for the SMET Group as part of the ceremony “The VDO Stars” for Innovation and Sustainability in Transport. An award collected right in the prestigious setting of the most important exhibition event in the sector with the presence of the entire market of European truck manufacturers – DAF Industrial Vehicles, Daimler Truck Italia, Ford Trucks Italia, Italscania, IVECO, MAN Truck & Bus Italia, Renault Trucks Italia, Volvo Trucks Italia.

Transpotec Logitec is one of the leading trade fairs in the industry and, in absolute terms, among the most important for the Mediterranean and Balkan area. The key themes of the event – the energy transition, the market and professions, the impact on urban mobility, innovation and safety – are addressed through a rich program of meetings and events: conferences, seminars and workshops, providing a 360-degree overview of the critical issues and opportunities of the sector, offering proposals, ideas and tools to ensure competitiveness to a market that is strategic for the entire Country System.

SMET itself has been a key player in the development of sustainable freight transport, thanks to the enormous efforts and investments made in the field of intermodality (and beyond). That of sustainable mobility is an extremely hot topic and one that, with the passage of time, is becoming more and more central.

De Rosa’s first words were of heartfelt thanks to the entire Transpotec Logitec organization and the SMET team. “We are very happy and proud to have received this recognition from Continental VDO,” De Rosa began, “for the good work and constant commitment made by the entire SMET team for the proper management of the fleet and drivers.” The SMET CEO emphasizes that precisely “the drivers are our most valuable resource and we work, from the first to the last, with the utmost attention to compliance with the rules. In our opinion, these are the main ingredients for the recipe of a company’s success,” the leader of the Salerno-based logistics group adds.  “The future always proposes many challenges that must be undertaken with courage and determination but always anchored to the principles and reference values that each company must have in its DNA,” explains Domenico De Rosa.  And the reference here is crystal clear. The Salerno-based company makes progress and sustainable development, both economically and environmentally, its workhorse. “We have been committed for years to following and maintaining certain values and goals, which are first and foremost socially positive. This we have been doing since before it became one of the big topics of public debate.” De Rosa closes by saying that this recognition “Is an incentive to continue in this direction: the right one.”
